SIA launch new training courses

SIA is delighted to announce the establishment of a programme of training courses on spinal cord injury, called SIA Plus Working with non-specialist healthcare staff to teach them about living with spinal cord injury, the new training programme will be launched in October.

Alice Parsons, a sixth-form student from Uppingham School, has managed to raise a staggering £8,500 for charity in her first ever Flora London Marathon. Her terrific fundraising effort was matched by an impressive time in the race as she crossed the line the third fastest eighteen-year-old woman runner in just four hours and fifteen minutes.

Dr. Emma Lees from Rochdale was clearly top dog on Sunday as she led a pack of nearly fifty Dalmatian Dogs in the Great Manchester 10K run, raising a fantastic £12,000 to support people paralysed through Spinal Cord Injury.

Divided into five easy-to-navigate sections, the site holds a wealth of information on spinal cord injury and has been specifically constructed to meet the information needs of those with spinal cord injury, their families and friends. The site also contains many useful downloads, such as Factsheets, Consultation Documents, as well as our new online bulletin e-clips, and articles from our bi-monthly magazine FORWARD.
SIA’s Campaign to Preserve Spinal Cord Injuries Centres receives major boost.

SIA is delighted to announce that its campaign has received a major boost with the donation of £82,500 from Shoosmiths, Solicitors.
The Shoosmiths’ personal injury team is committed to donating 1% of its profits to a charity which supports accident victims and, after a vote by 420 employees at its Basingstoke branch, SIA was chosen to receive the donation.
Healthy Living Roadshow Hits Nottinghamshire

Edited by Paul Harrison, Clinical Development Officer at the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre, Sheffield, the book sets out to inform and advise on all aspects of living with spinal cord injury.
National Charity Builds Innovative New Headquarters

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) has moved into a brand new, purpose built centre that is completely accessible to disabled people. The unique building, which is being opened by SIA’s patron HRH The Princess Royal on 2 December, features state of the art technology such as kitchen cupboards and worktops that can be lowered and raised at the touch of a button, and windows that open when the temperature reaches a pre-determined level.
