Berlin
Real, - Berlin Marathon 28 September 2008
Best described as fast, flat and fascinating, the Berlin Marathon route offers experienced runners the perfect chance to gather optimum speed and eclipse previous personal bests.
For first-timers and the less-experienced, it offers a steady and amenable course that doesn’t make the task of completing the distance any more challenging than it actually is.
Starting and finishing near the Brandenburg Gate and whisking runners past some of the city’s most famous landmarks, the real,-Berlin Marathon boasts a field of more than 40,000 athletes and in excess of a million spectators lining the streets and thronging around the Reichstag.
First held in October 1974, with a pool of just 284 competitors, this year’s race is anticipated to be among the biggest ever and, replete with live music, street stalls and a feast of food and drink, promises a vibrant festival atmosphere in one of Europe’s most amazing cities.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon 12 October 2008
Starting and finishing in Grant Park, 319 acres of stunningly landscaped
greenery known affectionately as the City’s front yard, this awesome marathon
offers you the chance to fly through the windy city as part of a field of more
than 45,000 competitors.
Formerly known as the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, the race first took place in 1977 and proved an instant success as 42,000 runners sped through 15 of the city’s most striking suburbs and along the shores of Lake Michigan during the inaugural event.
Offering a wonderfully flat course, the Chicago Marathon is both a fabulous first-time race and a prime location for more experienced runners to achieve personal bests in the footsteps of Paula Radcliffe who secured her 2002 World Record here.

When the largest city in the US plays host to one of the world’s biggest marathons, the Big Apple bites back with an atmosphere and intensity unlike any other race, anywhere on earth.
Encompassing all five of the city’s boroughs and crossing five landmark bridges, The ING New York Marathon is more than just a road-race; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
With more than two million spectators lining the route - from the start on Staten Island, through Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and on through the streets of Manhattan to the finish line in Central Park – New York Marathon’s 35,000 competitors receive the most incredible support and a unique runners-eye view of the city that never sleeps.
