Peter Smith

I am Peter Smith and I live in Derbyshire. I became one 'one of us' in January 1955 - almost 50 years ago - after a difference of opinion in Kenya between me, a Land Rover and a tree. The Army shipped me home and I was first at a military hospital at Wheatley in Oxfordshire, and afterwards at Stoke Mandeville.

I married a wonderful woman in '56 (who still puts up with me!) and went to work in Local Government (Poppa Guttman's advice was "you must vork"), staying with them for 30 years in various jobs. We adopted three lovely children- two boys and a girl - and now have four grandchildren too. At 72 I've just had a plumbing re-route and am feeling good. So there we are - good wishes to everyone out there. Stay fit and active , and keep the weight off.
