New Factsheet
The Advice Line team are writing a new factsheet on Ventilator Dependent SCI people and would appreciate any of those of you who are ventilator dependent contacting them to pass on any advice/tips you would like to share with fellow
ventilated people. The team would also like to hear from you with information about other useful resources in this regard, such as support groups and useful websites.

The Health Information Project was established to…
- Deal with health related enquiries to the Advice Line.
- Produce informative Factsheets on a range of health matters for SCI people.
- Draw attention to the latest SCI research and health management issues.
- Host online discussion forums where SCI specialists such as urologists, physiotherapists, consultants etc take enquiries from SCI people, and discuss recent developments in therapies. This interactive service will give SCI people a unique opportunity to consult experts with their concerns.
- Initiate research by means of a major survey into the Community Health needs of SCI people, using that information to increase readily available reading materials on health issues, and also help develop SIA policies in the field of healthcare.
- Publish regular feature articles on health-related topics in our FORWARD magazine, and continue to update and develop SIA health-related publications.
- Work to build up knowledge of health-related issues throughout the organisation, dealing with media enquiries and forming closer links with research bodies.
All this information will be published both here on the website and in the pages of our members’ only publication, FORWARD.
The project, funded by the Department of Health, was started in October 2005.
