Accessible Recreational Facilities

Oswestry is an old market town situated only a few minutes drive from the North Wales border.

There are a moderate number of shops, takeaways and pubs, including a large Sainsburys, however some individuals may class the area somewhat unsuitable for wheelchair users, because of the street layout and shop frontages.

The Oswestry SCI Centre is situated on the A5, within a 30min drive of either Llangollen, Wrexham or Shrewsbury. Wrexham has a much wider range of shops/places to eat/cinema.

Before Discharge

Before being discharged from Oswestry each patient has to complete a Needs Assessment checklist with their appointed Key Worker. This checklist is also completed at the beginning and middle of the rehabilitation process; therefore hopefully showing a marked improvement in the depth of knowledge and skills learnt over the course of a patient's rehab. This checklist is overseen by the Psychology department.
