During a busy visit to the UK for the ISCoS conference this week, Frans Pennix Trustee at the Dutch Spinal Injuries Association, made a quick visit to SIA House.
Frans experienced the grand tour of our head office before coming together with key members of the SIA team, in order to share ideas and best practice of providing support and advice to SCI people in Europe. As a completely voluntary organisation, the Dwarslaesie Organisatie Nederland, (or DON as they call themselves), gave a valuable insight into their funding, membership growth and sources of volunteers in Holland.
After the ideas sharing came to a close, Frans was happy to retire to SIA's National Library on Spinal Cord Injury, to spend the rest of the afternoon checking out our facilities and researching SCI treatments and available care in the UK.
The National Library on Spinal Cord Injury is a valuable resource for anyone within the SCI Community. The library houses numerous books, journals, newsletters and autiovisual materials. Visitors to the library have open access to the collection, as well as our library computers and photocopier.
