The Hand Engravers Association of Great Britain is arranging two sessions for wheelchair users as part of its Cut in Clerkenwell project in central London in July and would like to offer these to members of the Spinal Injuries Association. Anyone who uses a wheelchair and has the use of their upper body could take part in this hands-on experience of hand engraving. During Cut in Clerkenwell there will also be an exhibition showing wide ranging techniques and styles of work by currently practising hand engravers.
These sessions will be run by Rodney Rigby, a hand engraver who is spinal cord injured.
The venue for the workshops is Craft Central, 33-35, St John’s Square, Clerkenwell, London. EC1 4DS. They will take place from 11 am to about 4pm on either Thursday 12 or Saturday 14 July. No charge is being made for these workshops. They can only accommodate five wheelchair users on each day for the workshops and so need to hear as soon as possible from people who are interested. Rodney will chat with people about what they will be doing and allocate places on a first come first served basis
