Mobility in Care Homes - The Low Review

Earlier this year, following an outcry from disability organisations such as SIA, the Government withdrew plans to remove the mobility component of DLA from people in residential homes. Now Lord Low of Dalston has been asked to chair an independent review into how the personal mobility needs of people living in state residential care are met. The proposed removal of mobility payments from people living in residential care through the welfare reform bill potentially has a signaficant impact on the lives of disabled people.

Between now and 10th October 2011 Lord Low would like to hear from Disabled People, particurly those living in state-funded residential care and their families, care providers and local authorities.

By responding to this call for evidence you will help in understanding what people's needs are and how these are met, how mobility support is currently funded, the role of providers and any concerns from parties involved in residential care.

To find out more about the review and to submit evidence please visit: http://lowreview.org.uk

The findings will be published in the autumn enabling peers to consider the evidence and recommendations as they debate the Welfare Refom Bill.
