This years AGM was held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on October 8th. The afternoon session was dedicated to Campaigning for Change: the Next Chapter where members were given the chance to discuss three questions.
What should be SIA’s Campaigning priorities over the next three years?
The main areas of concern that were flagged up included SCI centres and improving links with District General Hospitals, Welfare Reforms, Benefits and Care and Support.
How can SIA better involve members in our campaigning activities?
Members felt that we could improve communication with SIA and its members through social networking sites and encouraging contact with SIA Trustees.
How we can SIA assist members to campaign at a local level?
It was suggested that SIA could provide more advice on how to campaign at a local level with suggestions such as template letters, contact details for local MPs and a campaigning tool kit.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who came along on the day and contributed to the discussion workshops. We still would like to hear people’s views and ideas on the topics discussed. The information we acquire will form the basis of the next Campaigning for Change manifesto and shape our campaigning work for the next three years.
