Gary Roberts

I'm a C3-4 incomplete thanks to a motorcycle accident on June 9th 2000, where a 77 year old guy knocked me off my bike performing a U-Turn on a dual carriageway. I live in a small village in Wiltshire in a bungalow with my wife & two teenage sons. Luckily for me I received my compensation after 3 years so we've been able to get some 'toys' & treat ourselves to nice holidays. I live in constant chronic pain in my shoulders/arms/neck but otherwise I can do quite a lot. I have pretty good function on my left side but my right is pretty weak but getting stronger thanks to exercise.

Being half Japanese I saw a motto that I like to live by.

kombate kudasai - do better than the best you can do

I've posted my full story on my website (see below) but since I wrote that article I've achieved so much & still push every day to do better than previous. Like others I have a lot of bad days mostly centred around pain but I'm very aware how lucky I am.

I set myself targets & every month I fill in a diary section on my web just to keep anyone who knows me posted. I'm much more positive about my life compared to the first year or two & I still see many things I can attempt to experience & succeed at so watch this space..

I've attached a picture of me walking on holiday but usually I'm in a wheelchair (black clothes hide the belly I see)
