I am 19 years old and became paralysed at T3 following complications in spinal surgery. I am currently studying for a BSc in Deaf Studies at Bristol University, which has given me the opportunity to understand some of the shared difficulties experienced by both the Deaf community and SIA members alike in combating issues such as disability discrimination and social isolation.
I participated in the early development of SIA's book for SCI teenagers (Wha'ever) and feel that my experiences as a young SCI person will help promote the needs of this age group, which I now represent on the Trustee board. I enjoy going to comedy shows, watching horror movies and Deaf theatre, and have recently become interested in taking up flying. Politically, I take a keen interest in general issues whilst staying appraised of issues affecting disabled people.
