Helen

I'm Helen and joined SIA 14 years ago whilst in a spinal unit in Southern France. I was 30 years old with 2 young daughters of 2 and 4 years, running a restaurant on a campsite. We were on our way to Spain when our car was involved in an accident and I broke my spinal cord at C7.

After 9 months in rehab we decided that life in a wheelchair would be slightly easier in England than in France. After moving into an adapted bungalow, I found a job working in Reservations at a nearby hotel, and happily worked there for seven years, and then as a part-time receptionist in Community Services in my nearby town.

I've found the Constable Car chair gives me total independence and enables me to get out on my own. I enjoy swimming and going on holiday, a couple of years ago I bought an adapted motorhome, and have enjoyed touring in England and France.
