I have been a member of SIA since its formation in 1974. Over the years I have actively supported and been involved in the activities of SIA, both at a national and local level. I served continuously as a GC member from 1981 to 1998, only stepping down in 1998 due to business commitments. I became SCI in 1967 at the age of 19. Since retiring from full time employment in 1993 I have enjoyed a successful business career.
I am also currently Chair of a local Disability Advice and Support charity covering North Staffordshire. I am a Non-Executive Director and Vice-Chair of my local NHS Primary Care Trust. My particular interests are the rights of the individual, independent living (I now live independently myself), ageing with SCI and transport.
