Hi - i'm Nigel and I've been "confined to a chair" for some 28 years following being wrapped round a lamppost having been thrown from the back of an ex-post office van after a school disco - and I'd just had a slowey with the schoolgirl I'd been lusting after for years !! Bummer eh ?. T4 paraplegia resulted, and the head knock I took may have given me what sense I have.
I was an inmate at the Southport Promenade Gulag for the following 5 months, when it was agreed by mutual consent I should go away and pester other people.
Spent the next 10 years trying (badly) to play wheelchair basketball, and then got into my own businesses - just about the only way I could get a job back then !
Been married twice, (happily now), and had a lifetime of interesting experiences. Physical circumstances made me look at my career choices, and I am now at the ripe young age of 43 studying to be an Occupational Therapist - now in my third year and hoping to qualify next June. Must be mad.
All the best to all and keep pushing.
