As part of our exciting new developments in outreach work, SIA is now seeking to appoint two additional Community Peer Support Officers to join the Community Peer Support team, specifically providing support within the East of England and a dedicated role to support ex-Servicemen and Women. The role of each CPSO, who must be spinal cord injured, is to address the needs of newly injured people not receiving treatment in a specialist Spinal Injuries Centre.
East of England
This post will involve working with staff at Spinal Injuries Centres in the target area to identify individuals and support them and their families. Undertaking visits to District General Hospitals and other non-specialist centres within the East of England region and building relationships with key staff will be a requirement of the role. As the CPSO will be required to cover the East of England, a willingness to travel within the region is essential. This is a full time post (35 hours per week) and includes regular visits to SIA House in Milton Keynes when required.
The posts carry a salary of £23,094 pa plus pension scheme and 28 days annual leave plus the usual Bank Holidays. Click here to download the Job Information pack
Armed Forces
The Community Peer Support Officer for the Armed Forces will respond to requests to provide peer support to spinal cord injured people who are being treated in Armed Forces specific rehabilitation centres e.g. DMRC Headley Court, Spinal Cord Injury Centres and non-specialist rehabilitation centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. As the CPSO will be required to provide national coverage, a willingness to travel is essential. This is a part-time post (21 hours per week) and includes regular visits to SIA House in Milton Keynes when required. Candidates must be from a serving Armed Forces background.
The posts carry a salary of £13,856 pa plus pension scheme and 28 days annual leave (pro rata) plus pro rata time off for Bank Holidays. Click here to download a Job Information pack

SIA would particularly welcome applications from females with a spinal cord injury to address the under-representation of females in the Community Peer Support team. This is part of the ‘positive action’ provision of the Equality Act 2010
