Spinal cord injury is a devastating event and has lifelong implications for the injured individual and their family. Case Managers appointed to work with newly injured people need to be aware not only of their complex health needs, but also their social and physical requirements in order to ensure that their client can return to a fulfilling life following injury.
Our one-day course has been tailored specifically for Case Managers, drawing on recommendations and feedback received from those in the profession. The aim of the day is to equip Case Managers with a wide range of knowledge of the impact of spinal cord injury, medically, physically, socially, psycho-sexually and financially. The majority of the speakers are themselves spinal cord injured. In keeping with SIA’s ethos, they speak from a true user perspective. They bring unique insights into daily living with this impairment and the vital role of the Case Manager when working with their SCI clients to facilitate their independence and improve quality of life.
