I am a 38 year old tetraplegic, a consequence of a diving injury when I was 14. I was previously a trustee of SIA from 1997 – 2007, a role I relinquished to take up the role of SIA Training Officer. I left this job due to the economic pressures faced by SIA in 2009 and I returned to my career as a personal injury solicitor. I am now a solicitor with Fentons Solicitors, a Manchester law firm dedicated to pursuing compensation claims for those who have sustained a spinal cord injury. I am a previous Vice Chair of SIA and was responsible for a group of trustees overseeing the building of SIA House. I am a founder member and committee member of the SIA Cornflower Ball, an event held annually for the legal community in Manchester which has raised over £250,000.00 for SIA. I have contributed to many SIA conferences in the past and I am a regular contributor to Forward. I am also now a course tutor for the SIA Academy, delivering the 'Your Voice' self-advocay course and the Equality Act Master Class.
