SIA’s Master Classes

Ever wanted more information on independent living?

Thinking of making a claim under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) but not sure how to go about it?

Then SIA’s Master Classes are for you!

SIA is holding Master Classes on these two specialist topics throughout 2010/11. Delivered by spinal cord injured trainers who are experts on these subjects, the classes aim to provide in-depth training, helping you to get the information you need. These classes are perfect for anyone who has attended a Your Voice course and wants more detailed training or anyone interested in learning more on the following issues:

How to make a claim under the DDA (1 day course)

Covering topics such as:

  • The rights of disabled people under the DDA
  • A step-by-step guide on how to make a claim
  • Sources of support

Funding and Managing Your Care Needs (2 day course)

  • Care options (live in care, becoming an employer, using an agency) the benefits and drawbacks of each
  • Living with personal assistants – how to structure and manage care
  • Care funding – options available and how to access them (in particular Continuing Healthcare Funding for tetraplegics)

All Master Classes are FREE to attend and will be held at SIA House in Milton Keynes.

How do I book a place?

In order to provide an effective training environment, places are strictly limited to a small group. If you would like to attend (and you must be prepared to come on both days if booking a two-day course), click here to complete an online booking form or contact Maureen at the SIA Office to book your place - Tel 0845 678 6633 or via email. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided free of charge.
