Health Care Professional's SCI Study Days

SIA is holding a series of SCI Study days aimed at health care professionals in 2012. This course, which is FREE to NHS staff, is a must for professionals working in District General Hospitals and rehabilitation centres who treat spinal cord injured patients.

The day will be split into lectures and workshops and will include expert speakers covering topics such as:

  • Bowel and Bladder Management
  • Moving, Positioning and Handling
  • Best Practice (Avoiding Lawyers)
  • SIA’s Community Peer Support service

96% of delegates who attended the Study Day in Birmingham in March said they would change their working practice as a result of attending.
"I just wanted to pass on my  thanks for the Study Day last week. It was an informative day, and I left armed with knowledge on the work of SIA and the spinal injuries team at Salisbury." (Participant at the Southampton Study Day)

Moving and Handling Study Day – 3rd July 2012, Liverpool

Based on feedback from a pilot study day in Manchester in October 2011, SIA is also launching a dedicated study day on Moving and Handling aimed at NHS healthcare professionals working in District General Hospitals.  This day will focus on sessions with expert clinicians and interactive workshops for participants and will address:

  • Benefits of moving and handling
  • Risk elements for staff and patients
  • Needs of patients in acute and community settings

This day is highly interactive so particpants must be willing and able to interact. Comfortable clothing is recommended. Due to the interactive nature of this event, spaces are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.

Both courses are FREE to public sector workers with professionals working for private companies being charged a fee of £175.

The full list of confirmed dates and venues are displayed below. It is an all-day event which includes lunch and refreshments.
