How we are governed
SIA is governed by a board of Trustees known as the Governing Council. Elected by spinal cord injured members of SIA, our trustees are a diverse group of people who differ in age, gender, experience and the level of paralysis they have following spinal cord injury. They meet four times a year to:
- Ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose for the public benefit
- Ensure compliance with the charity’s governing documents and the law
- Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
- Ensure the charity is accountable
Between them our Trustees offer a range of valuable skills and experience and giving up their time voluntarily to ensure that SIA is doing the job it was set up to do in accordance with the laws and regulations governing UK charities.
