I am a paraplegic, complete, T12. I have been using ISC for 22 years. I had a rotator cuff repair done in February during which time I had an indwelling catheter. Now I am allowed to use my arm again, I have restarted transfers. However my transfers are so poor that I have managed to pull out 3 indwelling catheters with the balloon still inflated – not sensible. I am thinking that I need to have a suprapubic catheter fitted and to discontinue ISCs. I would appreciate anyone’s comments on the advantages and disadvantages of the former.
