Our annual bike ride is returning for Autumn 2021, with a UK-based twist

Although we’ve had to postpone our plans for an overseas bike ride, we’ve worked with our fantastic trip providers to come up with a ride offering just as much fun, thrills…and a few hills.

As with all of our trips, the ride is FULLY ACCESSIBLE, and is a great chance for hand cyclists and cyclists of all ages and experience levels to get involved, take on a challenge, and help to raise vital funds and awareness to support our work.

Our Route: Coast to Coast (Southport to North Tyneside)

The route of choice for this year’s challenge will see a team of SIA cyclists and hand cyclists taking on a cross country coast to coast, starting in Southport in the Northwest, and ending in North Shields in the Northeast. This is a distance of around 220 miles, over the course of three days cycling.

Sticking to quiet, but well-maintained roads, we’ll travel through some of the UK’s most stunning settings – passing through the Yorkshire Dales and skirting the Pennines, on our way from Southport to Whitley Bay.

Most importantly, we’ve done our upmost (as always) to make this trip as accessible as possible, and although challenging, the route has been specifically picked to be as hand cycle friendly as possible. All hotels, lunch stops and rest stops have also been picked with accessibility in mind – to make sure that all participants can have a comfortable and hassle-free experience throughout.
