Cathy has been a member of SIA’s Cornflower Ball Committee since it began over 15 years ago. Since then she has run the London Marathon and cycled both London to Paris and London to Amsterdam with TeamSIA. For each of these events, Cathy organised three separate fundraising balls which have raised in excess of £27,000 for SIA.
Cathy says of her support of SIA:
“Through working with SIA on the Cornflower Ball I became aware of ways I could support them as an individual. I was delighted to join TeamSIA as they cycled from London to Paris earlier this year. It was an amazing experience. SIA’s planning of the challenge was immaculate and the scenery beautiful, but the best aspect of the experience was the camaraderie. A mix of spinal cord injured individuals on hand cycles, family members of injured people and people, like me, who just value the fabulous work of SIA and wanted to help raise funds to keep it going forward – we laughed, cried, teased, cajoled, and chatted endlessly as we rolled along. It was both a moving and meaningful life experience and, frankly, the best fun too. Roll on to the next TeamSIA cycle! I am in!”
