Inservice training

Please note that due to the current restrictions around the coronavirus pandemic, we are unable to schedule any face to face education or training. Our Support Network Team is, however, still able to provide virtual education sessions- please contact Karen on the details below for more information.

Delivered by one of SIA’s Support Network Officers (SNOs), these hour-long sessions are a fantastic opportunity for healthcare professionals to increase their awareness of issues around living with a spinal cord injury.

Our team of SNOs supports spinal cord injured people in hospital, home and community settings throughout their lives- from being newly injured, through being discharged and beyond. They are there for SIA members, as well as their family and wider support network, as often or as little as people need, whenever they need them. In addition to this, they can offer support and education to healthcare professionals in many different settings, and are in the unique position of having both personal and professional insights into SCI.

These CPD-accredited presentations are ideally suited for team training sessions, and provide participants with an increased awareness of what it is like to live with spinal cord injury from someone with first hand experience, as well as information on the wealth of support the SNOs and other teams in SIA can provide.

On confirmation of booking, our Education and Training Co-ordinator, Karen Mikalsen, will liaise with you on suitable dates. There is no set fee for inservice training, but we do seek to reimburse costs if at all possible.

If you would like more information on this, or would like to request a session, please contact Karen by email or on 01908 732140.
