Inspiring women across the world

To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, we’re excited to feature a rousing read for all ages that celebrates women’s achievements across the globe.

Fantastic Female Adventurers, by Lily Dyu, is a collection of 14 exciting stories about inspirational women who’ve been on incredible journeys across land, snow, sea and space.  Author, journalist and trail runner Lily is donating a proportion of the royalties from her latest children’s book to us, thanks to a recommendation by SIA Ambassador Karen Darke, who features in this anthology of epic adventures.

Lily explains: “The book was inspired by a friend’s daughter Francie, who loves all sorts of activities from surfing to skiing. I was looking for a book of modern day women adventurers and explorers for her birthday and when I couldn’t find anything, I decided to write it myself.

“Fantastic Female Adventurers was published just in time for her ninth birthday. When I decided to give away 10% of the author royalties, I asked each of the featured women to nominate a charity. The global adventurer and Paralympic champion Karen Darke nominated SIA.”
