Martin's Mountain Update
Martin’s Mountain will see Martin Hibbert, supported by a team of people closest to him, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro next year, with the aim of raising £1million for SIA. He’s also aiming to dramatically increase the public’s awareness and understanding of spinal cord injury, including its hidden impacts upon bowel, bladder, skin, and sexual function.
Martin will be taking a Paralympic torch to the top of Kilimanjaro, that was carried by Baroness Masham (founder of SIA) during the London 2012 torch relay. This will act as a symbol of hope to all people with a spinal cord injury, proving that whatever your own personal mountain, anything is possible.
#MY19
Now is your chance to support Martin in his goal of raising £1million for us. Mt. Kilimanjaro is over 19,000ft tall, this is Martin’s #MY19 challenge, what will yours be?
Your #MY19 could be anything, it could be 19 showstopper cakes, 19 acts of kindness, 19miles walked or pushed in a month, 19 laps of your local park, the possibilities are endless.
We’ve already had some fantastic participants take on their own #MY19 challenges.
Cian Paton, at just 5 years old, reached the summit of Snowdon, raising over £300
Cian is the son of Chris Paton who is a spinal cord injury nurse, who will be taking care of Martin on his climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
We’ve also been supported by the Williams Racing Duck, who raised over £1300 by walking 40 miles from the Williams HQ in Oxfordshire to Silverstone.
