We are delighted to have several of our trusted partners joining us for this year’s SIA Overseas Cycle Challenge, including Richard Clark, David Hilton and Chris Baxendale from CFG Law, our trusted Legal Partners for the Northeast and Yorkshire.

Having joined us on previous trips (our four countries challenge in 2019, and a “virtual” tour of Tuscany in 2020), Richard is slightly aware of what he has let himself in for – he admits that the lockdowns haven’t given him quite as much training time as he would have liked. Likewise, newcomers to the challenge – David and Chris – have been hard at work training in preparation for the challenge, no doubt spurred on by stories of the “cheeky hills” that the team had to conquer in Croatia in our previous outing.

CFG Law’s CEO, Richard Clark, had the following to share about his motivations for taking part:

‘I have worked closely with SIA for the last 5 years, and we see the difference that they make every single day. Like so many charities they do life-changing work but when you consider that 2,500+ per year are diagnosed with a spinal cord injury it amazing how little is known about the condition, or about the type of support those affected by it may need.

Working closely with the charity it’s clear how much help they provide to those living with a spinal cord injury.  It’s important that they can continue to do this, especially after the last couple of years as they navigated Covid. Fundraising events such as this are vital to raise the funds needed to deliver their services.

Our challenge is to ride over 3 days covering approximately 200 miles through Tuscany in Italy.  This may seem idyllic but having undertaken no exercise for the last 18 months it’s a serious challenge for me.

We are all looking forward to facing the challenge alongside SIA, their members, and partners, and we know that every penny we raised is going to help SIA change lives.’

As well as raising funds through their personal networks, the CFG Law team shared news of their challenge around their business contacts, which allowed them to share a wealth of information about our services and how we support SCI people, whilst also giving them the chance to further solicit some welcome donations.

We also want to say another huge thank you to Richard, David and Chris for taking on this year’s cycle challenge, and to all their colleagues at CFG Law for doing their bit to raise vital funds and awareness – to further support out work.

As trusted Partners, CFG and their team are a vital part of our support network, offering their advice, support and experience to SCI people in need.  Taking on extra challenges with the passion, dedication and enthusiasm which they put into events like our cycle ride really does demonstrate why they are one of our trusted partners!

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you out there!
