Our network of support for spinal cord injured people continues to grow

Every spinal cord injured person deserves to have a range of options when it comes to accessing support, and here at SIA we recognise that without some help, it can be tough to work out which organisations to choose.

That’s why we’re delighted to welcome the latest companies joining our Business Membership Scheme, extending the choice of services for spinal cord injured people across a range of mind, body, and life matters.

Our Business Members – which complement our regional Trusted Partners – are experts in their field, and choose to support us so that we can achieve our shared vision of a fulfilled life for everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

An association for all

It’s all part of our mission to build an ‘Association for All’, one which is far greater than the sum of its individual parts. It draws on expertise, creates awareness, improves influence, and coordinates support services to anyone and everyone who needs it.

Our Business Members are an integral part of this Association, and not only do they make a financial contribution to our work, but they also pledge their wealth of practical and emotional support to underpin our services and raise awareness of our vital work.

Many of our Business Members have supported the charity for a long time, and are all too happy to continue that support through our recently redeveloped scheme, presenting us with a fantastic opportunity to build even stronger relationships with like-minded organisations that share our aims.

Welcome on board

We’d like to share our gratitude to these 7 organisations that have pledged to support us by joining our Business Membership Scheme this December.

“With 10 years of neurological rehabilitation expertise, Askham Rehab is able to offer a quantitative and targeted approach to treatment, as well as greater discretion when targeting key areas following neurological events. We put the patient at the core of our practices and empower them with the tools to oversee their journey with us their own way. That’s what our support for SIA as a Business Member is all about:  showing our commitment to improve the quality of life for persons living with spinal injuries and their families.”

Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, operations director

“At Hollister Incorporated, we realise that each person who uses our products and services is on a distinct, and often challenging, life journey. Every four hours another person is paralysed – and another family’s life is dramatically changed as a result of a spinal cord injury. Hollister has joined SIA’s Business Membership Scheme to help make a difference and honour Our Mission to make life rewarding and dignified for people who use our products and services.”

Nicola Napier. Consumer Marketing Manager, Hollister Incorporated

“We are delighted to become a SIA business member and will take pride in further collaboration with SIA to support people with spinal cord injuries. Our core values and ever-evolving package of support for the seriously injured, places a focus on supporting not only the client, but also their loves ones throughout and for years after the legal process is complete. Ensuring we always go above and beyond to support our clients, makes us a perfect supporter of SIA. We have already been actively involved with SIA through our ongoing support of client Martin Hibbert and Martin’s Mountain Campaign and his pledge to raise £1m to support SIA to ensure that everyone who suffers a spinal cord injury gets access to the support they need. We are extremely proud to extend our involvement by becoming a SIA Business Member.”

Rachel DiClemente , chief executive officer

“By supporting SIA as a business member, we feel Lewis Reed can support more spinal cord injured people by way of reaching more lawyers, occupational therapists and case managers who will need advice when helping their clients with their mobility issues. We understand the rehabilitation process and the protocols of case management in injury cases. We’re experienced in taking responsibility for all mobility issues in any project management and are acknowledged by the Court of Protection.  We are fully aware of how important client involvement is when selecting an appropriate vehicle to aid their mobility and are confident we will find the best vehicle in the most cost-effective manner for each person to best fit their circumstance.”

Christian Halsall, sales and marketing director

“Penningtons Manches Cooper is proud and pleased to support SIA to help those living with spinal cord injury. SIA offers a fantastic range of services that provide practical and emotional support, with local co-ordinators, counsellors, and experienced nurses available for one-to-one help, a raft of resources available on-line and by phone, and a wide network of contacts and campaigners. Both we and SIA have a long history of working with people as they adjust to life with SCI. We have a specialist team of SCI lawyers and know from our clients the huge value they derive from the support and services SIA provides. SIA relies on its business members and wider fundraising to continue its vital support and we are delighted to be part of that network.”

Philippa Luscombe, partner, Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP

“Thompsons has a proud history of working closely with SIA to help realise its vision of ensuring survivors of spinal cord injury receive the specialist care, treatment, rehabilitation and support they need in order to live full and active lives. Making a spinal cord injury compensation claim – focused on securing early interim payments and taking into account long term health, rehabilitation, housing and transportation needs – is an important first step towards rebuilding lives and regaining independence. We are delighted to be joining the Business Membership Scheme as the leading law firm solely dedicated to representing those who have been injured.”

Samantha Hemsley, head of serious injury and clinical negligence

“Complex Care cases require specialist care and support, the team at Verrolyne Services is here to
Help. Our spinal cord injuries specialisms include tracheostomy care, bowel and bladder management, and ventilator support, to name a few. Our mission is to provide the highest quality care to our clients and to relieve the stress on families and friends. This is why we have decided to join SIA’s Business Membership Scheme, to support their vital work with all spinal cord injured people.”
