SIA announces the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) today announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Nik Hartley OBE.  The former Chief Executive of Restless Development, Nik will join the SIA staff team in early January 2019.

SIA’s Chair, Dr Rupert Earl, said of the appointment:

SIA is delighted to welcome Nik on board and is confident he has the vision, skills and attributes necessary to take our sector-leading charity forward in the years ahead.  His contribution to Restless Development has been outstanding and we are fortunate indeed that Nik is now ready to take up a new challenge.  The breadth of his experience in this sector positions Nik well for the role of SIA’s new CEO, and both the Trustee Board and the SIA staff team look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship with him in this new and exciting phase for SIA’.

Speaking of his appointment, Nik Hartley said:

I am truly moved to have been offered the opportunity to lead the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).  I have spent my whole career supporting movements and programmes around the world that deliver justice for the most excluded in society and so to have the opportunity to work with one of our country’s truly inspirational charities is nothing short of a privilege.  Since its foundation in 1974 SIA has been driven by spinal cord injured people from around the country that make up its 10,000+ members. With that amazing foundation, I am absolutely certain there is an opportunity to go forward with the goal of transforming the lives of every spinal cord injured person in this country. I cannot wait to begin working with SIA’s brilliant team of staff and volunteers’.
