Superhero Triathlon

On Saturday 17 August, the 2019 Superhero Triathlon will take place at Dorney Lake in Windsor.  This is the only race in the UK open exclusively to people with a registered disability and as such is a true celebration of the disability community.

Participants will be involved in a three-stage race consisting of:

  • a swim in open water
  • a bike stage
  • a final push/run stage

This is a very flexible event where people can choose to do the whole thing solo and/or with a sidekick, or team up and do the stages in relay – within reason, anything goes!

Meet our Superheroes

Claire Martin (solo – sprint tri)

Claire was injured just a couple of days after the birth of her second child,  following spinal surgery to remove tumours.  She was inspired to take part after being encouraged to set goals as part of her rehab.  The date of the Superhero Triathlon marks seven months to the day from her first, emergency surgery.

If you would like to find out more about Claire and support her in the Triathlon, visit her JustGiving page.

Chris Fitzjohn (solo – half tri)

Chris signed up so he could practice what he preaches, he’s always encouraging SCI people through the course of his work as a SIA Peer Support Officer, and thought it was time to put his money where his mouth is!

To support Chris visit his JustGiving page.

Darren Coote (team – full tri)

Darren was injured over 20 years ago and describes the support he received from SIA as ‘an integral part of his recovery’. He now wants to raise funds to ‘give something back’ to the charity.  In the challenge he’ll be joined by his daughter, Georgia, and his brother, Mark, and they’ll each take on a stage of the tri.

Support Darren and the rest of his team.

A BIG THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK to all of our Superheroes.
