Our trusted legal partner in the South West – Trethowans

“Trethowans have been proud to sponsor SIA for many years and support the amazing, vital work they carry out for spinal cord injured people and their families. We are now delighted to be asked to work in partnership with SIA, as one of their recommended legal firms.

We understand the enormous, life-changing challenges posed by spinal cord injury, not just for the injured person but for the family as a whole. At Trethowans we have a team of expert lawyers dedicated to helping injured clients get back on track following injury. In particular, our specialist legal knowledge and experience of handling complex personal injury and clinical negligence cases can secure crucial damages for those who have sustained a spinal cord injury. Recovering damages whenever possible is most important as it provides private funding for all the immediate and future needs of the

injured person, and gives some financial security going forward. We have always enjoyed a very close and productive relationship with SIA, which initially began with our sponsorship of their peer-support workers and volunteers, all of whom play a vital ongoing role in assisting injured people and their families during the difficult post-injury period. We continue to support the charity and their members wherever possible. We regularly hold events in support of SIA, including our annual fundraising black-tie dinner; and we host regular social activities for the benefit of patients in the spinal units such as summer barbeques, quizzes and virtual racing evenings. One memorable fundraising event involved helping one of SIA’s peer-support workers to climb over the top of the O2 building in her wheelchair!

We are very much looking forward to this new chapter in our long-standing relationship with SIA, and to providing our continued support for both the charity and its members in the future. We’re here to help.”

“We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our work with Trethowans, and are very much looking forward to developing what is already a strong relationship with them, to provide even greater support to SCI people in the South West. We have seen over many years that their staff really do care about making a difference, and are willing to put in the extra effort to support our members, whether it be taking on complex cases, hosting dinners to support our work… or scaling national landmarks! Truly brave and brilliant partners!”

About Trethowans

Whatever you’re facing, we’re here to help.

A spinal injury can be life changing in so many ways. Trethowans are specialists in helping you to get the maximum compensation and support you need.

Our team of experts will help you get the compensation you deserve. So you can look forward to a brighter, happier future. We know and understand the difficult challenges that you face if you’ve suffered a spinal injury. Our aim is to use our considerable experience and expertise to help you achieve the long term care and financial security you need to rebuild your life.

Why Choose us

Cases are brought on behalf of the injured person to recover damages that reflect the severity of their injuries, their pain, suffering and often extensive financial loss. We work closely with clients, their families, case managers, medical experts, and other specialist experts to secure the long term care needed to rebuild lives. In many cases it is possible to obtain an early “interim payment” to cover the cost of initial rehabilitation and other immediate needs. We recognise how crucial early intervention can be in maximising recovery.  We can also assist with issues such as applying for and obtaining all available state benefits, initial needs assessments, sourcing all necessary aids and equipment, and even the adaptation of properties or the purchase of a new property to suit an individual’s specific needs.

As a firm, we do not just represent clients bringing personal injury and clinical negligence claims. Even if there is no claim for damages, Trethowans as a full-service law firm can offer specialist legal assistance with all legal matters that can arise such as family issues, making a will, financial concerns, and buying and selling property. We are based in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset but cover the whole country, acting for injured clients wherever they may be throughout the UK and abroad. We routinely see clients either at one of our offices, or often at home or in hospital/spinal units, whatever suits the individual. We encourage all SIA members and their families to contact us free of charge to discuss any requirements they have.

Our team can support you with all your legal needs post injury, no matter your circumstances.

Accidents and injuries can be life changing in so many ways. When they happen, our team of experts will help you get the compensation you deserve. So you can look forward to a brighter, happier future.

We will start by providing advice that is expert and clear, practical as well as personal. Every year, our personal injury solicitors recover over £10 million in compensation for serious accidents such as head and spinal injuries, accidents at work, road traffic accidents and clinical negligence. Whatever you are up against, we will first understand it – then apply all our expertise to get you the right outcome.

I am a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team, leading the team in the Poole and Bournemouth offices. I specialise in complex and catastrophic cases.

I often act for clients who have suffered life changing injuries, including brain injuries and severe spinal injuries. I use my knowledge and experience to ensure that they get the best possible outcome from their claim. I understand that litigation can be stressful, particularly when clients are coming to terms with serious injuries, and strive to do what I can to help lift the weight of such issues off them.

I also specialise in clinical negligence claims and have considerable experience dealing with birth injury cases, instances of delay in diagnosis, claims involving incorrect / sub standard treatment and issues involving consent.

Away from the office, having grown up in Dorset, I am now raising a family locally and enjoy spending time exploring the coastline and countryside alike. I also enjoy watching and participating in most sports, particularly football, cricket, hockey and rugby.
