Equity in screening: addressing barriers for women with spinal cord injury
- Thursday 11 June 2026
- 6.30 – 8.30pm
Women with spinal cord injury continue to face significant barriers when accessing routine screening and essential healthcare. This spotlight session brings together clinical and policy expert and lived experience to explore what is being done to ensure every woman receives the care she deserves.
Designed to empower women through information and advocacy, the session will unpack the Government’s Women’s Health Strategy, highlight current developments in screening, and share real‑world experiences that demonstrate the challenges and the opportunities for change. Together, we’ll examine how awareness, rights and campaigning can come together to improve outcomes for women with SCI.

Women’s Health Campaign
Our women’s health campaign aims to highlight the unique challenges faced by disabled women and advocate for better healthcare solutions. The healthcare system is not designed with disabled women in mind. From inaccessible GP and hospital facilities to a lack of specialist knowledge among healthcare professionals, women with spinal cord injuries and other conditions often struggle to get the care they require.
