Neurokinex
The Neurokinex programme for spinal cord injury is one of the leading activity-based rehabilitation programmes in the UK.
At Neurokinex we recognise the importance of involving all of your body in exercise. This means that we can optimise the strength and endurance of the muscles that are still functioning, plus stimulate the muscles that have been most affected by your injury.
We combine excellence in neuro-rehabilitation with exercise physiology to provide a diverse and exclusive experience each time you visit us.
Whether you’re looking to continue with your rehabilitation, maximise your fitness or improve your overall wellbeing, we will create a programme that’s dedicated to supporting your rehabilitation journey
Activity-based rehabilitation has two main goals. The first is to stimulate the whole body to work as one unit again and, if possible, to re-establish some form of a link or pathway between the paralysed and functioning parts. Secondly, this kind of approach aims to improve the body’s condition as much as possible to allow you to be stronger, fitter and more independent.
Why choose us
Unlike more traditional approaches, our rehabilitation and wellbeing programmes target the entire nervous and musculoskeletal systems rather than only the functional areas of the body. Our programmes consist of a variety of weight-bearing activities, balance and stand training, gait and locomotor training, electrical stimulation, upper and lower body ergometry, vibration therapy and strength training. We carefully devise task-specific exercises and activities with skilled trainers and specialised rehabilitative equipment.
What people are saying
“As well as the amazing training experience, I really feel that Neurokinex’s ethos of continuing to embrace innovation makes them stand out as a rehabilitation provider.” Luke Applegate
“I love being pushed to the limits of my ability to achieve my goals, but what I also really like about Neurokinex is that they are working really hard to make sure this type of rehab is more accessible for everyone in the UK.” Sarah Wilson
“I’m extremely fortunate that the environment that Neurokinex is able to create for me and others like me is akin to what a professional athlete may have access to.” Ellen Field
The Neurokinex team carries out around 250 hours of therapy each week
“What I really like about Neurokinex is that it’s really inclusive to all abilities. As a tetraplegic, other providers wouldn’t be able to support me in the activities that I can participate in at Neurokinex.” James Taylor
“The Neurokinex programme is a really important bridge to help you get back into a community setting and helps you adjust from the highly structured hospital routine to life back at home. The momentum you gain from having those initial six free sessions is vital to ensure ongoing rehabilitation gains.” Damian Riley
“Finding Neurokinex completely changed my life as the team understood my injury and could see past an MRI scan. Their medical specialists understand neurological rehabilitation and knew how to give me the skills to function, adapt and walk again. The relief was extraordinary.” Laura Bibby
