Spinal cord injury and post traumatic stress disorder

About this course

Our recent surveys have demonstrated that mental health issues in people who have acquired spinal cord injury are of great concern to people with spinal cord injury and healthcare professionals alike.  

We are delighted to be working in partnership with NHS England South East Region to be able to bring you an excellent opportunity to access a series of free to attend virtual mental health and spinal cord injury education modules addressing the mental health issues people with spinal cord injury may experience, and how they may be managed.

This module aims to raise awareness of PTSD and its increased incidence in spinal cord injury (SCI). Explores helping strategies and referrals for specialised help. 

Delegates

The aim of these sessions is to provide practitioners with an understanding of the psychological and emotional challenges that can be experienced by a person with a SCI and to build on existing knowledge and experience of how to have sensitive conversations with people affected by SCI, their family and friends.

Dates

Sessions will run from January to April over Zoom and be facilitated by Richard Matthews, our SCI mental health training and educational specialist. Each session will run for 1.5 hours.
