Your Chance to Share Your Thoughts on Personal Independence Payment
The first comprehensive review of Personal Independence Payment, the Timms Review, have asked for your experiences and view on the future of PIP.
The Timms Review is working to ensure that Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is fair and fit for the future in a changing world, and helps support disabled people to achieve better health, higher living standards, and greater independence, including through employment. SIA’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr Dharshana Sridhar, is one of the twelve experts selected to sit on Timms Review Steering Group. The Steering Group provide strategic direction and help set priorities and a work plan for the Timms Review, alongside the Review’s three co-chairs, Minister Sir Stephen Timms, Sharon Brennan, and Dr Clenton Farquharson CBE.
Now, the Timms Review have asked that people with disabilities, their carers, organisations, and other groups share their experiences and views on the future of PIP. The embedding of lived and learned experience is essential in this process, and SIA encourage all our members to submit evidence.
Evidence is being sought on topics including, but not limited to, the four key themes of the Review:
· The role and purpose of PIP
· Eligibility, fairness and equity in the award of PIP
· Experience of claiming PIP
· Changing context and the impact on PIP underpinned by some specific areas the group would like to focus upon
