My visit to the Regional Driving Assessment Centre
June 2025 – Written by Brendan Fitzgerald (SIA support coordinator in the Midlands)
I had a great day today visiting one of SIA’s newest partners, RDAC (Regional Driving Assessment Centres). Based in the Solihull, West Midlands, but with venues across the UK. RDAC provide a range of services to help people with disabilities get back on the road either as a driver or travelling as a safe, comfortable passenger.

The team is made-up of a fantastic group of people with lots of relevant experiences, from driving instructors to spinal nurses. They provide a range of services including driving lessons, driving assessments, equipment adaptations for disabled drivers and even a “try before you fly” service.
They have a vast range of equipment for people to try on site, including every type of hand control and wheelchair loading adaptation you can think of.

The entire team is very knowledgeable and helpful and have a real passion for meeting individual needs and getting disabled people back on the road safely. Check out more information about them and their other locations via www.rdac.co.uk. Thank you for inviting me along. I can see this being a really invaluable service to offer service users across the West Midlands and beyond.
