The Autumn issue of Forward magazine is out now!
Autumn is here, and we have got an issue packed full of stories from across the SCI community to cosy up with. Grab yourself a cup of tea and the autumn issue of Forward magazine and allow yourself a couple of hours to get comfy, dive in and unwind!
In this issue we take a look at how people living with spinal cord injury are making waves on social media. Amongst others we meet Lindsay Ulrey, a mum and full-time wheelchair user using Instagram to support others in her position, Emily Kilby, an artist from Hertfordshire who has created a huge following as she mouth-paints the beautiful ceramics her sister makes, and Rocky Stoutenburg, who, with over 1 million followers, uses a mouth-operated controller for his online gaming.
And staying on the topic of media, as Wicked actress Marissa Bode’s new movie Wicked: For Good hits the cinema’s, she shares her experience of making history by being the first actress with a spinal cord injury to play a wheelchair-using character in the show’s history. Here she talks about how her lived experience of disability brings something special to the role and how she welcomes using her platform to create change.
