Best friends Craig and Mike to complete the London Marathon for SIA

Craig Manning (42) from Essex will be completing the London Marathon for Spinal Injuries Association alongside friend Mike Nixon (38) from Milton Keynes after both were paralysed due to spinal cord injuries.
Craig and Mike met at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville back in 2019 while completing rehabilitation after their injuries. Mike had fallen from a roof while doing maintenance on his farm, and Craig had sustained his injury in a vintage motocross race.

Craig and Mike will be taking on the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April on behalf of the charity, pushing the 26.2 miles around London’s iconic landmarks in their day chairs.
Craig and Mike said,
“This challenge isn’t just about the miles – it’s about pushing limits, changing perceptions, and supporting a cause that means a huge amount to both of us. Completing a marathon in a wheelchair is physically and mentally demanding.
There will be tough moments, aching arms, and times when giving up would be easier, but that’s exactly why we are doing it. To prove what’s possible, and to give back to a community that supports so many of us.
“SIA is an amazing charity that goes above and beyond to help everyone with a spinal cord injury. Living with a spinal cord injury comes with daily challenges that many people never see and their vital support and resources help people like us to live fuller, more independent lives. Their work makes a real difference, not just in recovery, but in hope.”
