About this event

Our local community groups are a great way of connecting to other people with SCI, their friends and families and they offer regular opportunities to socialise.

The Northampton spinal cord injury community group will be meeting for the first time at the University Innovation Centre on 11 November from 11am-1pm.

  • This venue is opposite the Northampton Train Station so ideal for anyone wishing to travel to this group by public transport.
  • Re: parking: As you drive past the graffiti wall its the 1st turning on your left, follow the road around to the end. There is disabled parking or they have said that we can park on the white lines on that road. Additional parking is available at the train station. You will need to register vis the Saba Blue Badge Portal to get FREE parking.

If you would like more information about this group or want to let Leana, you host and local SIA Support Network Coordinator that you will be attending then please email [email protected]

Meet your host – Leana

Hi. My names Leana, and I was injured in 1996 in a RTC and sustained a T9 complete spinal cord injury. I spent 10 days in the QE Norfolk and was then repatriated to Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit where I underwent spinal fixation followed by 3 months of rehab. Speaking to people and voicing my concerns or worries was so important. I soon came to realise that I could lead a fulfilled happy life which was no different to anyone else – I was just doing it seated.”

If you’ve recently become injured, already living with a spinal cord injury, or are close to someone who is, you’re in the right place. You can book a support session, book a call or find out more about the upcoming community groups by contacting your local support coordinator.
