Share your views on PIP with the Timms Review
The Timms Review of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was launched by the Government last year. The Review aims to ensure that PIP is fair and fit for the future in a changing world, and helps support disabled people to achieve better health, higher living standards and greater independence, including through employment.
As part of the Timms Review we are hosting a workshop for members of our community to share their views and experiences of PIP. The workshop will cover some topics that the Timms Review Steering Group want to know more about and is an opportunity for people in our community with direct experience of PIP to shape the review. This is a chance to share your experiences, talk about what works (and what does not), and help shape the recommendations that the steering group take forward to the Secretary of State. This will include your views on what PIP is for, what it is like to apply for PIP and how decisions about PIP are made.
The workshop will take place on Monday 13th July at 12:00 – 14:30. It will be in person, in Milton Keynes, with financial support available to contribute to participant’s travel costs. The workshop is supported by the Timms Review, but we are running it independently.
During the workshop we will discuss participants’ views and experiences on (1) what PIP is for, (2) what it is like to apply for PIP, and (3) how decisions about PIP are made. The Spinal Injuries Association will summarise the insights discussed in the workshop and share with the Timms Review. No personally identifiable information of participants will be shared with the Review.
