Adapted Trends Clothing

Adapted Trends Clothing provides functional, fashionable and individual adaptive trousers for young people and adults with disabilities.

Rachel Thompson, a former nurse, came up with the unique design after learning from parents of teenagers and young people how difficult it was to find age appropriate, adaptive clothes. Since the successful launch of the company at Naidex 2025, and in consultation with wheelchair users and amputees, Rachel has tweaked the original design and extended the clothing to include larger adults sizes, and added a pair of shorts to the collection.

Product features include:

  • Wider leg in the thigh area and low waisted front for comfort when seated.
  • Two-way open ended zip down the centre of each leg makes dressing and undressing easier and allows wearers to access prosthetics, catheter bags, stomas and feeding tubes without taking the trousers off.
  • Wide drawstring bottoms to accommodate splints and prosthetics but can be tightened to shorten.
  • High waisted back to the trousers for full coverage of back when sitting and to conceal incontinence aids.
  • Side pocket on each leg easily accessible and the size of a phone.
  • Access hole in each hip pocket for feeding tubes.

Male wearing a pair of adapted trends trousersWhat we wear and how we wear our clothes is a reflection of our  personality and gives the outside world a glimpse into who we are.  These cargo style trousers offer a fashionable alternative for people with disabilities, who do not want to ‘make do’.  In the future, with more big brands, as well as the small independent companies offering accessible clothing, people with disabilities will have the option to wear clothes that reflect who they are.

Adapted Trends Clothing is working with the Spinal Injuries Association to offer 10% discount on all purchases made using a unique code, SIA10.  In addition, the charity will also receive a 10% donation of the purchase price to ensure everyone benefits from this partnership.
