Disability benefits reform: It's time to take action
The Government has this week, published its Bill, proposing major changes to disability benefits, including cuts to Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
These reforms would be disastrous for people with spinal cord injury (SCI), many of whom already face huge daily challenges just to live, work, and participate in society.
We must act together, now!
We’ve made it easy for you to take action. Download the attached template letter, insert your details, and send to your MP.
It explains:
- Why PIP is a vital lifeline and not a luxury
- That managing an SCI is a full-time job for many
- How cutting benefits will make working even harder for those who can
- That 84% of disabled people say PIP helps them stay independent, and nearly half say they would be unable to work without it (research by the Disability Benefits Consortium)

What’s at stake?
Without PIP, many of our members would lose:
- Access to the care and equipment they need
- Their ability to stay in work or education
- Their independence, health, and in some cases, their homes
By speaking out together, we can show MPs just how damaging these proposals are and how urgently they must be opposed.
