Trusted care partner of the month - Paragon Home Healthcare

Supporting Life Beyond Injury

We are proud to recognise Paragon Home Healthcare as this month’s Trusted Care Partner, covering the Southeast, South Central and London. They provide specialist support for people living with spinal cord injury and is committed to helping people live a fulfilled life beyond injury.

Paragon Home Healthcare provides highly personalised, clinically informed care for people with spinal cord injuries, including older children, young people and adults. Much of this work happens quietly, behind the scenes — but its impact is life-changing.

From complex hospital discharges and transitions into independent accommodation, to supporting travel, education, family life, hobbies and new opportunities, Paragon’s focus is clear: care should not limit a person’s life. It should help open it back up.

Specialist SCI care that goes further

Paragon works with people at some of the most important and complex points in their spinal cord injury journey.

The team has worked alongside spinal injury units and intensive care teams to support the discharge of a client with a recent high-level spinal cord injury from ICU into their own home. They have also supported a client with SCI to move out of supported living and into their own accommodation, putting specialist care in place around independence, safety and long-term quality of life.

These are not simple care packages. They require clinical confidence, careful planning, skilled staff, strong communication and a deep understanding of spinal cord injury.

For Paragon, this is where specialist care matters most: when the risks are high, the details matter, and the outcome has the potential to change someone’s life.

The work people do not always see

Paragon may not always be the loudest voice online, but they are consistently doing the work that matters.

Their teams are supporting people with spinal cord injury to travel internationally, return to education, take part in adapted sport, access the community, move home, build confidence and regain choice.

One client, who sustained a life-changing spinal cord injury following a serious road traffic collision, returned home after a prolonged hospital admission and delayed rehabilitation. Paragon worked closely with the client, his family, therapists and case management team to build a specialist care package that evolved with his rehabilitation.

As his confidence grew, so did his goals.

Paragon has supported him with:

  • a long-haul trip to Australia
  • sports and leisure trips
  • sailing and adapted adventures
  • holidays requiring complex care planning
  • rebuilding confidence, independence and identity after injury

These moments are not just “activities”. They are milestones. They are the difference between existing safely and living fully.

Supporting pioneering technology and complex futures

Paragon is also supporting a client living with paralysis who is among the first people in the UK to take part in an early-stage brain-computer interface clinical trial.

Following a spinal cord injury, the client received an implant designed to support computer control through thought alone. The technology remains in early clinical trial stages, but it represents an extraordinary moment for innovation, independence and the future of neurological disability support.

Paragon’s role in supporting clients with this level of complexity reflects the kind of provider they are: clinically capable, adaptable, discreet and focused on what the individual wants to achieve next.

Quietly raising the standard

Paragon’s contribution to the spinal cord injury community is not always about big public campaigns. It is about consistent, specialist, person-centred care delivered well.

The team attended the APIL conference, connecting with professionals involved in supporting people after catastrophic injury. They have worked with spinal injury units, ICUs, therapists, case managers and families to support safe and ambitious outcomes for people with SCI.

They also supported the Back Up Wales event last year, continuing their commitment to advocacy, collaboration and better understanding of what good spinal cord injury care should look like.

Much of Paragon’s reputation has grown through word of mouth, recommendation and professional trust. People hear about them because of the work they do, the outcomes they support and the confidence they give to clients, families and professionals.

Care built around real life

Paragon’s approach is grounded in the belief that spinal cord injury care should be about more than safety alone.

It should support someone to go back to school.
To move into their own home.
To travel.
To sail.
To study.
To reconnect with family and friends.
To try something new.
To feel like their life is still theirs.

For Paragon, the “small things” are not small at all. They are often the things that matter most.

We are proud to have Paragon Home Healthcare as one of our Trusted Care Partners and look forward to continuing to work together to support people living with spinal cord injury.
